“Negotiate your own writing goals and audience expectations regarding conventions of genre, medium, and rhetorical situation” – Genre played a big role in our assignments this semester since not every assignment was written in the same genre. Each genre has different contents with their own conventions to follow. The goal would be to fulfill the requirements for every genre we write in. To make sure we understood the genre we had multiple genre analysis sheets to complete throughout the semester. The assignment would have us look at student samples of assignments done in the past, and we would have to critique them based on if they meet genre conventions (see figure 1).
