CLO #5

“Engage in genre analysis and multimodal composing to explore effective writing across disciplinary contexts and beyond” – This course learning outcome has a lot in common with course learning outcome #3. We had to do a genre analysis on every genre we studied in class and it would be based off of a student sample from prior years. We were able to see how past students applied their course learning outcomes to their assignments, as well as how they applied their rhetorical elements to each writing piece. It was also helpful because it gave us a good idea on how to write assignments and how to focus on a topic during writing more clearly. This would also help us with our multimodal approach to assignment because not every assignment was the same. Some would have to be presentations while others were documents and research papers, and by analyzing the genre we could better understand how to write in these forms of media.
