Lab reports are organized documents with the purpose of sharing the results and findings of a study or experiment. The lab report must also persuade the audience to accept the results and findings of the experiment preformed. While doing that the author needs to demonstrate that they have a wide range of knowledge and understanding on the subject. For this lab report project we were tasked with finding and lab report published online and breaking it down to identify its structure. There were video presentations of each group breaking down their lab report of choice and identifying the structure of the lab report and seeing if it had all the required element of a lab report. The elements of a lab report are: title, abstract, intro, methods/materials, results, discussion, and conclusion. Each of these elements are exactly what their title is and if the lab report had all the elements, it would pass as a complete lab report. My group choose to analyze a lab report done on the motion generation of a biped robot. The lab report was about hoe a small biped robot generates the motion to move on it’s to legs. The lab report had all of these elements except results since there was no experiment done. This report was primarily using equations and mathematical analysis. Overall this project was useful in teaching use how to write a proper lab report to demonstrate our findings for our future projects.
